Johannesburg - Parliamentary Speaker Frene Ginwala hinted on Friday that she might not be able to take up a senior position of the Pan-African parliament (Pap) if South Africa became the seat of the institution.
Ginwala said she personally believed that a seat or leadership of an international institution should not be placed in one country.
"I don't think it is very democratic," she said, adding that South Africa was supported by the Southern African Development Community to be the seat of Pap.
Ginwala who has been speculated to be president of Pap was reacting to a question from journalists at the Gauteng Legislature.
She, Mninwa Mahlangu, Boy Geldenhys, Nomakhozana Njobe and Hendrette Ngubane have been elected from the South African parliament to represent the country at the inaugural session of the African parliament on March 18.
