'Pitbull in a skirt'

Johannesburg - Incensed by the cruelty of female genital mutilation in Kenya, under the guise of traditional circumcision, Bridget Masinga, a finalist in Miss South Africa 2002, is determined to fight the practice.
In this fight, the 21-year-old who calls herself "a pitbull in a skirt", will not go the route of the militant activist without the relevant formal education.
Masinga told City Press this week she planned to study sexology to put herself in good stead to know all there is to know about human genitalia.
"The grim pictures I have seen of women who sustained injuries during these mutilations were so disgusting that I made a pledge to myself to one day join the struggle against the ghastly practice.
"However, I intend to acquire a degree in sexology in order to have the intellectual background on human sexual behaviour," said the ravishing young beauty.
Masinga is among the 12 nubile finalists who will be striding down the ramp at Sun City on December 8, contesting for the title of the most alluring girl in the land.
She defied the odds when she qualified for the final in her first attempt in a beauty pageant.
Why does she refer to herself as a pitbull in a skirt? "I come in a very cute package, just like the external appearance of a pitbull. However, if somebody tests my patience, I can be vicious. I can be a walking, living terror. But let me not be misconstrued for somebody who is violent," said the bubbly beauty.
This eloquent stunner does not remotely resemble a young woman with a mean demeanour; rather, she comes across as a human being with boundless energy and a sense of humour.
Masinga is a full-time model who religiously reads Ayanla Vazant's books.
"The candid and spiritual manner in which she writes her motivational books inspires me a lot," said Masinga.
With her considerable knowledge of global issues and that smile of hers, Masinga might take the reins from the reigning queen, Vanessa Carreira.
