11 drown in Nile accident

Khartoum - Eleven people including women and children drowned on Tuesday when a boat ferrying them from one bank of the Nile to the other sank, Sudanese police said.

Around 40 people had been on board the vessel some 40km north of the capital Khartoum when the engine suddenly cut out and the boat began to sink, they said.

Eleven people lost their lives but the remaining passengers were saved, police said
