14 killed in Egypt road accident
Assiut - A truck and a minibus collided in southern Egypt, killing 14 people and injuring eight, the provincial governor said on Monday.
The driver of the minibus lost control because he was driving too fast, said Nabil el-Ezaby, governor of Assiut province.
All 14 on board the minibus were killed in the accident on Sunday, he said.
The driver of the truck, which was laden with wheat, and seven others travelling with him were being treated at Assiut hospital.
Road accidents are common in Egypt because of bad roads, wild driving and poor enforcement of traffic rules.
An estimated 8 000 people die in car accidents annually.
