Bamako - At least 18 people including a child were killed and 27 injured when a bus and a lorry collided head on a Malian national highway, authorities said on Friday.

Civil Protection official Oumar Tangara said the accident happened on Thursday between Bamako and southern Sikasso, adding that the death toll was provisional and could yet rise.

"There are at least 27 injured, including some seriously," he said.
