Cape Town - The South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs was informed by the British authorities on Friday of the injuries of two South Africans in London following the terrorist attacks on Thursday July 7, the government said in a statement.

Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said the two South Africans are currently in two separate hospitals in London.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, on behalf of the South African Government wished the two South Africans "a speedy recovery".

Mamoepa said: "In the meantime Minister Dlamini-Zuma has directed that South African consular officers based in London visit the two victims in hospital this (Friday) morning."

Mamoepa said the Department of Foreign Affairs consular section in Pretoria was currently "in the process of contacting family members to advise them of these developments and to provide the necessary support. At this stage therefore it is not possible to release the names of the two victims to the public until such time the next of kin has been informed".
