Nairobi - Officials in Kenya say two people were killed and 15 others wounded in Nairobi's largest slum in violence fuelled by ethnic tensions.
Local council member Mohammad Gore says the violence began after a dozen youths from the Nubian ethnic group demolished trading stalls in the Kibera slum.
Afterward, Lughya tribesmen retaliated by pulling down the fence of a church.
Gore says traders later hacked to death a Nubian man with machetes. In retaliation, Nubian youths started attacked people indiscriminately, killing one. Shacks in the slum were set on fire.
Paramilitary police were patrolling the slum, but Saturday's violence could flare into a larger conflict.
