6 killed in Kenya tribal clash
Nairobi - At six people, including three children, were killed in a tribal clash in northeast Kenya near the Ethiopian border, officials said on Wednesday.
The region is regularly plagued by violence between nomadic groups who compete for scarce economic resources such as water and grazing land.
"The number of people dead is six, three children and three adults," after the clash in Moyale disctrict, said local official Isaiah Nakoru.
Another local councillor, Mohamednur Korme, said the toll was even higher.
"Seven dead and three injured are at Moyale hospital, but the number may change due to inaccessibility at the moment," said Korme.
Local resident Bonaya Boru told AFP: "Many have been displaced and we are worried." He added that local school children would stay home for now.
Another resident, who only identified himself as Mr Godana, said: "We are living in fear. You don't know whom to trust because the tribal bitterness is all over the neighbourhood."
