Austria detains 16 Somali migrants

Vienna - Austria on Monday detained 16 Somali nationals for illegally entering the country, police said.

The 10 men and six women, aged 17 to 32, arrived by bus from Greece with the help of human traffickers who managed to flee, police in the eastern state of Burgenland said.

The traffickers were identified as the bus driver and an accomplice.

According to investigators the group wanted to travel to Norway after paying between €1 500 and €4 000 to the traffickers.

Six had no legal papers, while the papers of the other 10 were forged.
