British teen smugglers released

Accra - A detention officer says two British teens have been released in Ghana nine months after their drug trafficking conviction.
John Allotey, an officer at the juvenile detention centre, where the girls were serving time, said they were released early on Thursday.
Officials and representatives for the girls had declined to comment, but reporters gathered outside the facility saw a number of British diplomats and Ghanaian officials leave the centre in cars on Thursday morning.
The students from London were arrested at the Accra Airport in July - attempting to board a plane home with about six kilograms of cocaine in their computer cases.
They had been sentenced to nine months, but some had expected them to get credit for time served before the conviction.
