CAR attack kills seven, injures 6
Bangui - A rebel attack on a rival group and civilians in the Central African Republic killed seven people, including a senior local official, and wounded six, a hospital official source told AFP on Monday.
The military said on Sunday that rebels of the Convention of Patriots for Justice and Peace (CPJP) fired a missile at a vehicle carrying former rebels of the Union of Democratic Forces for Unity (UFDR) and civilians near Bria, the country's main diamond mining hub.
One of the injured died overnight, bringing the death toll to seven, hospital official Roger Nassemnah said.
The Central African Republic has been rocked by a recent outbreak of fighting between the rival armed groups vying for control over diamond mines.
