Bangui - The director of a weekly publication was arrested on Friday over an article on government officials who allegedly received money from French company Areva, the journalist said.
"I was summoned by the prosecution ... When I arrived, I was immediately put in a vehicle heading to the research and investigation section of the police, where I am at the moment," Faustin Bambou told AFP.
He indicated he was arrested following the December 21 issue of the Hills of Oubangui publication, which contained an article alleging that two officials from the Central African Republic government were given large sums of money by nuclear energy company Areva.
"I have not been brutalised," he said. "The prosecutor asked that I be heard, but I am demanding the presence of my lawyers."
