Bangui - A lorry has plunged into a ravine in northern Central African Republic, killing 23 people and injuring about 10, police said on Monday.

"The toll could rise because some bodies are still trapped in the vehicle," the head of the paramilitary police at Sibut, Bienvenu Selemane, said. The accident occurred on Saturday night.

The dead include six children, seven women and 10 men.

In less than three months, four accidents at the same site have killed almost 40 people and injured at least 30 others.
