N'Djamena - Chadian Prime Minister Youssouf Saleh Abbas has resigned, a statement from the presidency of the west African state said on Friday.

The statement from the office of President Idriss Deby said only that Deby took note of Abbas' resignation, without giving a reason for the move.

Chad, which is currently working with Sudan to rebuild troubled ties between the two neighbours, is due to hold legislative elections by the end of the year.
