Chinese man kidnapped in Chad
Khartoum – A Chinese oil worker was kidnapped in Chad, prompting joint Sudanese-Chadian forces to search for him along the border, the Sudanese army said on Wednesday.
"We have information that he was kidnapped in Chad," Sudan's army spokesperson al-Sawarmi Khaled said. "We are waiting for the results of the search to determine exactly where he is."
Criminals work along the long and porous border to kidnap foreign workers for ransom in the remote triangle between Chad, Sudan and the Central African Republic.
They usually are held in the war-torn Sudanese Darfur region.
