Kinshasa - Officers of Congolese security forces briefly commandeered state radio and TV early on Friday in what government ministers called a failed coup attempt in Congo's capital.
Foreign Minister Antoine Ghonda blamed an "isolated movement" within security forces and said President Joseph Kabila's power-sharing government remained in charge.
Officers behind the attempt had retreated to a military base within Kinshasa, without violence, said Kaurdu Kafango, speaking for President Joseph Kabila.
"There was not a bit of gunfire," Kafango said.
