Dlamini-Zuma in top post

Johannesburg - Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has been elected as the chair of the peace and security council of the African Union, her office announced on Sunday.
Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said Dlamini-Zuma was elected in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday - the first woman to occupy such a post.
Dlamini-Zuma and other African foreign ministers are in Addis Ababa to attend the executive council of ministers meeting.
Mamoepa said the meeting was in preparation for the forthcoming African heads of states and government summit scheduled for later this week.
"On the agenda of the peace and security council is the briefing on developments in Darfur in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and the Ivory Coast," he said.
"The Peace and Security Council is expected to deliberate on the briefings and make recommendations on the course of action to the forthcoming summit scheduled later this week."
Mamoepa said President Thabo Mbeki was expected to fly to Addis Ababa on Monday to present the report of the peace and security council to the heads of states summit.
