Explosion damages oil pipeline
Port Harcourt - Nigeria's military says an oil pipeline has been damaged by a pre-dawn explosion.
Colonel Chris Musa, the head of the Bayelsa State military, says Thursday's blast "affected output" on the pipeline owned by Agip, a subsidiary of the Italian energy giant Eni SpA. He did not say how much oil output decreased or how severe the damage was.
Security contractors who spoke on condition of anonymity say the pipeline normally carries about 45 000 barrels a day. The contractors were not authorized to speak to the media.
