Family celebrates as 'dead' man wakes up

2012-05-12 22:00

Luxor - The funeral of a 28 year-old waiter in southern Egypt turned into a celebration when he woke up after being declared dead.

Hospital officials had pronounced dead Hamdi Hafez al-Nubi, who came from the village of Naga al-Simman in the southern province of Luxor, after he suffered a heart attack while working.

His family says grieving relatives took him home and, according to Islamic tradition, washed his body and prepared him for burial on Friday evening.

A doctor sent to sign the death certificate found it strange that his body was warm. At closer observation she discovered he was still alive.

His mother fainted upon hearing the good news.

With the doctor's assistance, both al-Nubi and his mother were awakened and soon were celebrating with guests.

Of course we can't question Islam's culture of burying ppl same day. But one wonders how many have buried ALIVE?

The Christians on News 24 will now have proof of the resurrection and the rest will not hear the end about it.

      andrew.pottow - 2012-05-13 08:10

Christs' resurrection was nothing like this. He was beaten until almost every bone in his body was broken, and he was stabbed with a spear to make sure he was dead, and he arose 3 days laters completely healed. I and others don't need proof of that because, frankly, no one could ever supply it. Faith is all we have and that's the way it should be!

  • charmaine.mcdonald2 - 2012-05-13 08:08

Jesus Christ raised him from the dead so that the "Muslims" can Repent and embrace Jesus as Their Lord and Savior. Amen. And many who claim that they are Christians, can do the same.

      andrew.pottow - 2012-05-13 08:16

He was never dead. His body stayed warm, he was alive the whole time, just unconscious! let's not be presumptious with regard to what Jesus did or didn't do and why either. I think its a little cheap to think we know what and why Jesus does what he does. It says numerous times in the bible that the plan God has for us is not one that we will understand until it is revealed to us by God when we get to heaven.

      Hudayfah - 2012-05-13 08:33

You are a tad bit late on the embrace part. We have embraced jesus as a great prophet of God. Not god himself. If you look closer in your bible you would see him being more human than anything else.

      Hadebe - 2012-05-13 08:37

Charmaine, u can do a little bit more of that yourself, it wont do u any harm huh!!

  • maryjane.mphahlele - 2012-05-13 08:12

whoa thats creepy and amazing.i declare that 60% who are said to be dead in hospitals are actually not.

  • Jean - 2012-05-13 08:13

Wish he can tell us what he saw in heaven or hell because am not sure why he was kicked out of his death! lol.
