Abuja - Militants in the Niger Delta on Friday abducted three Filipino oil workers at Bonny Island in Rivers State, said reports.
The kidnapping came after a German national and his Nigerian driver were abducted in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Ireju Barasua, a spokesperson for police in Port Harcourt, said she had yet to receive an official report from the divisional police officer in Bonny Island, detailing the abduction.
It was unclear which oil company the Filipino hostages were working for at the time of their abduction.
Reports said their work was likely connected to Nigeria's Liquefied Natural Gas Project on the twin islands of Bonny and Finima.
The abduction of oil workers in the Niger Delta peaked this year with youths venting their anger against foreign firms they accused of helping Nigeria to steal oil belonging to the Niger Delta.
