Addis Ababa - Ethiopia has secured funding to fix a southern highway and to improve parts of its civil service that donors see as a barrier to
progress, according to reports in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
Three loans from the Abidjan-based African Development Bank
(ADB) will total $135 million.
As agreed on Tuesday, one loan will pay to upgrade the
152km Butajira Hosaena Sodo road in south-central Ethiopia.
Another will pay for a programme to reform the public service.
Ireland has meanwhile granted Ethiopia $20 million for
four rural-development schemes that include improving local
administration by "institution building", the Irish embassy in
Addis Ababa said. - Sapa-DPA
