Maputo - Rural Mozambican women marching to demand land, education and jobs have received support from one of the country's most prominent citizens.
About 500 marchers on Wednesday were greeted by Graca Machel, a Mozambican who is an internationally known children's and women's rights activist as well as the wife of former SA president Nelson Mandela.
She also is the widow of independent Mozambique's first president, Samora Machel.
Machel told the women that the struggle for women's rights will go on until it is won. She also praised women for overcoming challenges to look after their families.
Wednesday's march was organised by Machel's Foundation for Community Development and Action Aid International to mark World Rural Women's Day.
