Conakry - Security forces in the West African nation of Guinea have fired tear gas at opposition protesters.

Thursday's demonstration occurred as anger is mounting against proposed legislative elections in June. Opposition supporters reject the 30 June date, saying the president unilaterally chose it without input from all parties.

There were no immediate reports of injuries. A 16-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound during a similar protest one week ago.

Guinea held its first democratic election ever in 2010 but has been without a functioning legislature because of poll delays. The country had suffered decades of dictatorship and strongman rule since winning independence from France in 1958.
