Hijacked Danish family knew of piracy risk
Copenhagen - A Danish family whose sailboat was seized by pirates in the Indian Ocean wrote on a travel blog before the hijacking that it was in contact with anti-piracy forces and had prepared a "piracy plan" in case of an attack.
Denmark's government says a Danish couple, their three children and two crew members, also Danes, were on board when the boat was hijacked on Thursday.
The blog postings show the family knew it was risky to cross the pirate-infested waters off East Africa and were aware that an American yacht just days before had been hijacked by pirates in the area.
Still, the family felt reassured by overflights by counter-piracy patrol planes and daily contact with naval forces.
