Madrid - The international police organisation Interpol is establishing a register of stolen identity documents, which will play a significant role in the fight against terrorism, an Interpol representative said on Wednesday in Madrid.
Jean-Michel Louboutin attended an international anti-terrorism conference marking the March 11 anniversary of the Madrid train bombings, which killed 191 people in the Spanish capital.
The register already contained information on six million documents out of the 30 million which have been stolen worldwide, according to Louboutin.
Louboutin stressed the continuing importance of frontier controls in a world where terrorists could prepare attacks to be carried out on another continent. - Sapa-dpa
