Addis Ababa - Angelina Jolie, and her Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Brad Pitt, have arrived in Ethiopia to pick up the orphaned baby girl Jolie is adopting, an official said on Thursday.
Jolie's adopted son from Cambodia, three-year-old Maddox, is also with her in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, said Tesfeye Berhu, the manager of the Wide Horizons adoption agency, which arranged the adoption.
Jolie has named the five-month-old girl Zahara. The baby has been tested for HIV and turned out negative, he said. Berhu said the exact cause of death of Zahara's parents was not clear, but he suspects they died of Aids.
"It is our suspicion because obviously both her parents are dead," he said.
Jolie and Pitt arrived in Ethiopia on Wednesday and have declined to speak to The Associated Press about the adoption.
The twice-divorced Jolie has often talked of adopting a second child.
For months, rumours have been circulating about the extent of her off-screen relationship with Pitt.
Photos published in the July 11 issue of People show Jolie standing near her Buckinghamshire, England, estate while Pitt rides a dirt bike with Maddox. Other photos show Pitt, Jolie and Maddox at Luton Airport outside London.
Pitt and his wife, Jennifer Aniston, announced their separation in January, and Aniston filed for divorce in March, citing irreconcilable differences. Pitt, 41, has denied Jolie, 30, is the reason for the split and Jolie has said she's never had sex with Pitt.
