Cape Town – Forensic experts were on Wednesday combing the scene of terror attack at the Westgate mall in Nairobi in a bid to piece together evidence of the weapons used by Islamist gunmen during the attack, a report said.

According to Standard Media, the experts also wanted to find out evidence of the planning and the motive of the tragic “slaughter” of people.

The report said experts from Britain, Israel and the US had teamed up with Kenyan colleagues from the police and military as they got operations under way to clear the mall.

Meanwhile the country has begun three days of national mourning following the end of the four-day siege by Islamist militants at the mall.

President Uhuru Kenyatta announced on Wednesday that the siege at the shopping mall was over, saying the attack by Islamist gunmen were "immense" and that 67 people had died.
