Kenya: Talks on food resume

Nairobi - UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) chief Jacques Diouf arrived in Kenya overnight for a three-day visit to discuss food security, as the country grapples with a food shortage, officials said on Thursday.
Diouf will hold talks with several government officials, including the agriculture minister, to discuss issues related to agriculture and food security, a FAO official told AFP in Nairobi.
In August, the United Nations appealed for nearly 100 million dollars to help over two million Kenyans who are at risk because of crop failure and drought.
According to FAO's annual hunger report released last week, hunger and malnutrition are killing more than five million children a year, with Africa bearing the brunt in human lives, and costing developing nations billions of dollars in lost productivity.
