Nairobi - At least 21 people, many of them children, were killed on Tuesday when armed raiders attacked a rival clan's village in eastern Kenya, residents of the area and church sources said.
"We know 21 people have been killed, most of them appear to be children," said Father Alex Serreira of the Catholic mission in Marsabit, about 150km south of the village of Turbi where the attack took place.
Police in the region were at the scene of the attack and could not immediately be reached for comment but residents said members of the Borana clan had raided Turbi, a village populated mainly by the rival Gabra clan, early on Tuesday morning.
