Kibaki drops ICC accused minister

2011-08-25 12:10
Nairobi - Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki on Wednesday dropped a suspended minister accused by the International Criminal Court of being behind the 2007-2008 post-election violence from the cabinet.

William Ruto, who is among six key suspects over the unrest that claimed some 1 500 lives, had already been suspended from the higher education ministry in October as he faced graft charges.

In the same cabinet reshuffle, Kibaki re-appointed Moses Wetangula to the foreign ministry, which he quit last year over corruption allegations.

The ICC is to confirm charges against the six Kenyans later this year.
