Liberia's Tubman accuses cops of hit

Monrovia - Liberia's Winston Tubman has accused President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's security forces of trying to assassinate him when they opened fire on an opposition rally on the eve of Tuesday's run-off polls.

"I was getting out of the car, a young man pushed me back and ... a bullet that we believe was aimed at me by a sniper hit him instead of me, and he died.

"I am of the belief that they [police] were acting under orders, and those orders indicated they were ordered to eliminate me," Tubman told journalists in an interview.
