Lotto winners from KZN
Durban - KwaZulu-Natal topped the list of lottery millionaires in the past two months, national lottery operator Gidani said on Friday.
Gidani spokesperson Thembi Tulwana said of the 10 people who claimed jackpots in the past two months, four were from KwaZulu-Natal.
"For some bizarre reason, KwaZulu-Natal has always managed to produce a high percentage of jackpot winners,” she said in a statement.
Tulwana said she believed one of the reasons why KwaZulu-Natal topped the list was because the people of the province had far more experience playing the lottery than the rest of the country.
"The Zulu Kingdom has had an unfair advantage over all the other provinces because when LOTTO was launched in March 2000 it was not a new thing.
"From 1992 until 2000, KwaZulu-Natal used to run a provincial lottery. This gave players in KwaZulu-Natal an eight-year head start in playing the numbers game," said Tulwana.
