Venice - The body of a British tourist has been pulled from a Venice canal four days after the man went missing, police said.
The tourist, Richard John Raynor, 23, of Doncaster, had travelled to Venice with his girlfriend last week to celebrate Valentine's Day. He went missing late on Wednesday.
Fire-fighters recovered his body on Sunday from beneath the Liberty bridge in the northeastern Italian city.
Raynor was identified by his father, who had travelled to Venice to aid in the search.
A post mortem has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Police said Raynor and his girlfriend arrived in Venice on Wednesday and went out for dinner. While they were looking for a taxi to go back to the hotel, Raynor went missing.
The next day a couple found his cellphone and wallet and brought them back to the hotel where the pair had been staying.
