Morsi backs Palestinians, Syrians

2012-06-30 19:30

Cairo - Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi announced on Saturday his support for the Palestinians until they "regain all their rights" and called for an end to bloodshed in Syria, in his first presidential address.

"I announce from here that Egypt, its people and presidential institution stand with the Palestinian people until they regain all their rights," said Morsi. "We support the Syrian people. We want the bloodshed to stop," he added.

He repeated that Egypt would respect its international treaties, in an allusion to its 1979 peace accord with Israel.

"We carry a message of peace to the world, accompanied and preceded by a message of right and justice."

The Islamist, who resigned from the Muslim Brotherhood after winning the election this month, had spoken out forcefully in support of Palestinians during his campaign.

The Brotherhood is vehemently opposed to Syrian President Bashar Assad and supports that uprising against him.

But as president, Morsi is not expected to radically change his country's foreign policy, especially towards Israel.

"All their rights" what does he mean by that? Does he mean Israel must be destroyed and Palestine must be built on its ruins? Or does he mean a rightful peace accord see the birth of viable Palestinian state along side Israel, living in peace side by side? The Islamic brotherhood shares the same roots as Hamas so i (being financially involved in the Middle East) know exactly what he means. I wish these Islamics stop speaking like snakes (forked tongue) and start telling the truth. but they are scared of the truth - cause the truth will give Israel an opportunity to beat the Arabs again to submission - its sad that the fundamentalists doesn’t read their own Koran - if they did they would have read that Allah wants the Jews in Israel – and there is nothing they can do about that.

@JAN - I wonder what criteria was used to label the Sheikh as a terrorist? Was it that he was blind, or that he was a Muslim, or was it that he was Arab, or was it that he was Islamically educated? Well, the champion of human rights, defender of the PEOPLE of Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and the ordinary people of earth had their work cut out for them this time: Its all of the above- so let's label him as a TERRORIST! Get a brain Jan!

Ignoring the truth won't make it disappear. And oh yes, I am the 1 in 4, I am a Muslim.

    Oh no, here comes trouble...

Religion of peace? Or Religion of Submission? The largest threat to Islam is Islam itself – it will eventually self destruct.
