Moz hit by starvation

Maputo - The Mozambican government has a shortfall of 17 million Euros to feed 247 000 people, a report said on Monday.

The daily independent O Pais said in a report on its website that the government had 3.5 million Euros of the 21 million Euros it needed to feed those facing food insecurity.

The report cited State Administration Minister Lucas Chomera.

Most of the affected people live in arid and semi-arid areas which did not receive enough rains in the last rainy season, said the paper.
