Maputo - The Mozambican embassy in Kenya was closed due to deep political rifts in the East African country, Mozambican official media reported on Sunday.
Radio Mozambique quoted the country's ambassador in Kenya, Marcos Namachulua, as saying embassy staff had been told not to report to their offices.
He said embassy authorities considered the political rifts in that country which has claimed over 300 lives, as grave.
It was not immediately known if the embassy had also extended a warning to Mozambican citizens living in that country to be careful of the situation.
The political impasse in Kenya degenerated into violence after the main opposition party accused the incumbent president of rigging the December 27 elections in his favour.
South African retired bishop and Nobel Peace laureate, Archbishop Desmond Tutu has since been appointed as peace broker in the country of more than 30 million people.
Weekend reports indicated that political parties were willing to engage in dialogue in order to solve the impasse which was threatening the stability of east Africa's biggest nation.
