Rabat - Nearly 100 African would-be immigrants were on Monday feared to have died in two attempts to reach Spain's Canary Islands, said reports.
Morocco's Royal Navy rescued six migrants from a sinking boat off Dakhla in Western Sahara, according to the official news agency, Map. More than 50 others remained missing.
Meanwhile in Senegal, a boat carrying 89 migrants and a body landed on the Yoff beach north of Dakar after 12 days at sea.
Fourteen of the migrants were taken to hospital in serious condition. Thirty-nine additional migrants had died at sea from thirst, hunger and rough weather conditions as the boat was running out of fuel. Their companions threw their bodies into the sea, according to Senegalese police.
The boat had taken off from Casamance in southern Senegal. The passengers were from Senegal, Gambia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
