Midrand - The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) is "deadly serious" and the media should stop making jokes about pap (Afrikaans for porridge) and gravy, PAP delegate Suzanne Vos said on Friday.
"This is not gravy, this is gruel," Vos said at a media briefing of the PAP's second ordinary session at Gallagher Estate in Midrand.
Vos said she had found the session exciting and met extraordinary people from across the continent.
"What I am not excited about is cartoons in the media about pap and gravy. It's nothing to joke about... it's deadly serious and we are serious about making it work."
Vos, who is an Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) member of the South African Parliament was elected to the position of rapporteur for the PAP committee on transport, industry, communication, energy, science and technology.
