Pirates seize Indian dhow

Nairobi - Somali pirates have seized an Indian dhow with a crew of 13 near the southern Somali coast, East Africa Seafarers Assistance Programme head Andrew Mwangura said Monday.

The vessel, named as MV Neseya, was seized on Friday at 12:30 close to the southern Somali port of Kismayo, Mwangura said, adding that the crew consisted of 13 Indian nationals.

The latest hijacking brings to 12 the number of foreign vessels currently in pirate hands and to around 250 the number of seamen held hostage.
