Maputo - The Portuguese committee in the United National Children's Emergency Fund (Unicef) on Thursday donated €300 000 to help more than 80 000 Mozambican children affected by recent floods, reported Vista News.
The executive director of the Portuguese committee in Unicef, Madalena Mar Grilo, said this would help with health, sanitation and education needs.
"We know that the next few weeks are critical for the dozens of Mozambican children who lost their homes, schools and access to health services."
Unicef representative in Mozambique, Leila Pakkala, said about 10 000 children were displaced when cyclone Favio hit southern Mozambique last week.
More than 100 people died in the cyclone-induced floods while more than 100 000 were displaced in the southern, central and northern parts of the country since January due to flooding.
