Record drug bust off G Bissau

Bissau - A Guinea Bissau navy patrol seized last weekend more than two tons of cocaine from South America off the coast of the small West African nation, said a source close to the navy.
The drugs were spotted when a boat from South America ran aground off the coast, said the source, who asked to remain anonymous.
Crew members fled the scene on the arrival of the naval patrol boat.
With 700km of Atlantic coastline and little surveillance, the waters off the impoverished country devastated by years of conflict has become a major transit point for drug trafficking between South America and Europe.
Last September, police seized 674kg of cocaine in the capital and arrested two Venezuelans.
