Johannesburg - A South African businessman shot in the Kenyan capital Nairobi last week was in a stable condition in Johannesburg's Milpark Hospital on Monday after being transferred there for treatment, a hospital spokesperson said.
Gerry Grundy was reportedly shot when a robber tried to grab a briefcase from his car while he was travelling home from work.
He reportedly heads Bullpak, a flour-packaging joint venture with packaging company Nampak.
He was flown to South Africa on Saturday after being stabilised by doctors in Nairobi.
Monique Lanz for Milpark's trauma unit, said the family had asked that no further details be released to the media.
A statement from the Nampak group confirmed that Grundy was attacked on his way home late last week and flown back to South Africa for treatment.
"We are deeply shocked and are in constant contact with his family. At their request, we are not issuing any statements about his condition and appeal to the media to respect their view."
