Seven killed in Kenya cattle raid

Nairobi - Cattle raiders killed at least seven people on
Friday in Kenya's volatile Rift Valley province, police said.
"Seven people were killed when attackers raided a
village," a police source said, adding that the attack took place at
Kaptir, a remote village in the arid northern Turkana region.
"Officers are currently fighting the bandits with a
view of recovering the stolen cattle," Kenya's police chief David Kimaiyo
told AFP, although he could not confirm exact casualties.
Cattle rustling and tit-for-tat killings between rival
groups leave dozens dead every year in the region, where guns are common.
In November, gunmen in northern Kenya killed more than 40
policemen in an ambush as they pursued cattle thieves.
