Shebaab threatens more Uganda attacks

2010-07-15 11:03
Mogadishu - The leader of the al-Qaida-linked Somali militant group that claimed responsibility for twin bombings in Uganda during the World Cup final is threatening further attacks.

The leader of al-Shebaab - Sheik Muktar Abu Zubayr - also thanked the militants who carried out Sunday's twin bombings in Uganda. The attacks killed 76 people.

In the audio message played on Mogadishu radio stations on Thursday, Abu Zubayr told Uganda's president that Sunday's attacks were only the beginning.

The bombings on Sunday ripped through a restaurant and rugby club. Al-Shebaab said the bombings were revenge for Uganda's deployment of peacekeepers in Mogadishu with the African Union.
