Johannesburg - Six people, including a three-month-old boy, died and nine others were seriously injured when a minibus taxi and another car collided on the N4 highway in Middelburg, Mpumalanga police said on Tuesday.
Captain Leonard Hlathi said a car travelling from Middleburg to Nelspruit was making a U-turn on the Hendrina turnoff on Monday at about 17:45 when a taxi crashed into it.
"All four occupants in the car died on the scene and a 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
"Two male passengers in the taxi also died, while nine others were taken to hospital," he said.
The deceased in the car had not yet been identified, Hlathi said.
However, investigations revealed that the car was registered in Soshanguve.
