Kampala - Lord's Resistance Army rebels ambushed a military truck killing six people including four soldiers and injuring more than 50 others in northern Uganda, military officials confirmed on Friday.
LRA guerrillas fired gunshots at the truck outside Pader town, about 380km north of Kampala.
"We have learnt that four soldiers and two civilians died in the ambush. Thirty-seven soldiers and 20 civilians were injured and this happened about 11:00 yesterday. The attack was carried out by pockets of the LRA still in the bush," military spokesperson Lieutenant Paddy Ankunda said on Friday.
The attack comes after the expiry on February 22 of a ceasefire offer the government had made to the rebels to facilitate peace contacts that had begun in December.
