Small detonations continue in Brazzaville
Brazzaville - Small blasts continued to ring out in a Brazzaville neighbourhood surrounding a munitions depot, where a fire over the weekend caused a series of explosions that left at least 213 dead.
Police cordoned off the district and fire-fighters were working to put out the fire on Monday. A large crowd gathered outside the main municipal morgue, which had registered 136 deaths on Sunday. A nearby hospital took in 70 more bodies on Sunday.
An Associated Press reporter saw another seven bodies carried into the morgue in a two-hour stretch on Monday morning.
The repeated blasts at the munitions depot were so strong that they caused houses to collapse, and shattered windows in a 5km radius. Among the buildings that buckled were two churches where worshippers were attending Sunday Mass.
