Soccer star hands himself in
Johannesburg - A former soccer star who was on the run following the death of a 27-year-old man in Dobsonville, handed himself over to police on Monday.
"He handed himself over to police around 19:00 today, following reports carried in the media," said Soweto police spokesperson, Inspector Kay Makhubela.
The soccer star is alleged to have stabbed the man in the chest at about 13:00 on Sunday. He then drove him to Leratong hospital, where the man later died.
After dropping the man at the hospital, the former player for a Premier Soccer League team known to Sapa, is alleged to have left, not knowing that his alleged victim would die moments later.
"The man is known to the deceased's family," Makhubela said.
The soccer player would appear in the Roodeport Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, he said.
