Somali militants take Kenya hostages
Garissa - A Somali militant group says it took several hostages in a raid that killed at least six people.
The police commissioner of North Eastern Province says at least six people were killed in the attack late on Wednesday, including a primary school teacher. He says four people are missing and six others were wounded.
Thursday's press release from the Somali militant group al-Shabaab did not specify how many hostages had been taken from the northern town of Gerille, but said their identities would soon be released. Al-Shabaab says seven people were killed and that they seized vehicles, communication equipment and a cache of weapons.
Al-Shabaab says the raid was in response to Kenya's decision to send troops into Somalia in October.
