Baidoa - A Somali cabinet minister who had been campaigning to oust the prime minister was fatally shot outside a mosque after Friday prayers.
It was reported that an unidentified gunman shot Abdallah Isaaq Deerow, Somalia's minister for constitutional and federal affairs. The gunman later escaped.
Deerow had been trying in recent days to build support for a no-confidence vote in Prime Minister Mohammed Ali Gedi.
However, he was not among the 18 ministers who resigned on Thursday, saying the government had failed to bring peace to this chaotic African nation.
